Dhaaga was built to solve a problem we saw clearly — Indian NGOs doing extraordinary work but struggling to find donors online. We set out to change that.

Why we exist

The gap we're closing.

India has over 3.7 million registered NGOs — the largest nonprofit sector in the world. These organisations are feeding children, educating girls, planting forests, healing the sick, and protecting the vulnerable. They are doing work that matters more than almost anything else.

And yet, most of them are struggling to fund that work. Not because donors don't care — they do. But because the gap between an Indian NGO and an online donor has never been properly bridged. Face-to-face fundraising teams are expensive, unscalable, and reaching fewer donors each year. Digital advertising is confusing, expensive, and mostly set up for commercial businesses — not nonprofits.

Meanwhile, significant free online marketing budgets go unclaimed every month by eligible Indian NGOs who simply don't know they exist. Donor retention systems that exist in every consumer business are nowhere to be found in the nonprofit sector. And most NGO directors can't tell you their cost per donor or their donor lifetime value — because nobody has ever set up the data systems to show them.
